The biggest MetaStock saving may come from choosing the right data package. If you analyze daily charts, paying for a real-time workstation could add hundreds of dollars to your budget without improving your research.
I use the R/T (real-time) and XENITH setup for its depth of analysis and financial news, but many investors will be better served by D/C (daily charts). Here is how I would compare the costs, annual savings, and trial offers before buying.
MetaStock Pricing: Monthly vs Annual Costs
MetaStock separates its software from some data subscriptions. These examples show the main configurations’ costs before exchange fees, additional products, and applicable taxes.
| Configuration | Pay monthly | Annual payment | Monthly equivalent, paid annually | Annual saving* |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| D/C + XENITH for Daily Charts Global | $74.95 | $809.95 | $67.50 | 9.9% |
| R/T + XENITH FX | $210.00 | $2,265.00 | $188.75 | 10.1% |
| R/T + XENITH North/South American data | $265.00 | $2,860.00 | $238.33 | 10.1% |
Savings compare annual billing with 12 full-price monthly payments. R/T totals add the separately listed software and data charges; they are calculated examples, not checkout-verified bundle offers. Monthly equivalents are rounded.
The $100 monthly R/T price is software only. It requires a separate XENITH subscription. The $265 example also does not include every exchange or an unlimited worldwide data package.

1. Choose MetaStock D/C or R/T
D/C: My Starting Point for Daily-Chart Research
I would start with D/C if your research can use 15-minute delayed data. It provides charting, scanning, system testing, and forecasting without requiring the more expensive R/T configuration.
The $74.95 monthly package is $190.05 cheaper than the $265 R/T example. That is a saving from choosing a different product and data service, rather than a promotional discount.
R/T: For Intraday Analysis and XENITH Research
R/T makes sense when you need real-time charts and the associated XENITH research environment. The software costs $100 monthly or $1,080 annually; listed XENITH data options add $110 monthly for FX or $165 for specified regional or futures packages.
My reason for choosing the more capable setup is its depth of news and research. Before buying, identify the instruments and exchanges you follow. MetaStock says R/T requires XENITH and that applicable exchange fees are necessary to remove delays from relevant feeds.
2. Compare Annual Billing With a Software License
Annual billing saves $89.45 on the D/C package compared with 12 monthly payments. For the R/T plus North/South American data example, the saving is $320. I would commit annually only after establishing that MetaStock fits my research process.
You can also purchase a software license: the official guide lists D/C at $499 and R/T at $1,395. These are software purchases; ongoing data costs still need budgeting. Do not assume a license includes every future version upgrade.
3. Check MetaStock Trials and Discounts
There are separate offers to compare:
| Offer | What is advertised | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Liberated Stock Trader partner trial | 30-day trials for R/T and D/C | Eligibility, included data and subsequent billing |
| 3 months for 2 | Promotional 3-month access for the price of one month | Eligible package, initial payment and renewal price |
| Annual billing | Lower cost than 12 monthly payments | Upfront commitment and complete data cost |
Three months for the price of one represents a 66.7% reduction (worth $530) over that introductory period, assuming the same monthly-price basis. It is not a 66.7% annual discount.
4. Include Exchange Fees and Renewal Costs
Your budget should include software, required data, exchange entitlements, chosen add-ons, and applicable taxes. Additional markets or specialized systems can substantially change the total.
Before subscribing, confirm the first payment, the renewal amount and date, and the cancellation procedure. Set a reminder before any trial converts to paid access.
MetaStock’s general 30-day money-back guarantee covers qualifying non-subscription retail products. It excludes subscriptions, data, and training products. A trial and a refund guarantee are separate arrangements.
5. MetaStock Black Friday and Seasonal Sales
Treat seasonal promotions as specific offers with their own dates and eligible products. An upgrade discount may apply to existing license holders, while an add-on sale may not reduce your core subscription.

I would compare the final payable amount for the configuration I need. A larger headline percentage is only useful when it applies to that purchase.
6. Choose the Best Option for You
The Best MetaStock Plan for Investors and Swing Traders
For most investors, I recommend MetaStock Daily Charts at approximately $74.95 per month.
You still get MetaStock’s serious technical-analysis engine, including charts, indicators, scanning, system testing, forecasting, and historical data. You simply avoid paying for the expensive real-time infrastructure that long-term investors rarely need.
MetaStock specifically positions its Daily Charts products for end-of-day, position, and swing traders, with delayed global market data suitable for scanning, charting, and backtesting.
If you make decisions after the market closes or hold positions for days, weeks, or months, paying $265 every month for tick-by-tick data makes little sense.
This is the MetaStock plan I consider the best value.
The Ideal Plan for Day Traders & Real-Time News
Active intraday traders should look at MetaStock R/T with XENITH.
MetaStock R/T provides intraday charting, market scanning, backtesting, forecasting, and real-time market analysis. XENITH adds the data and professional news infrastructure required to make it genuinely useful during the trading day.
The downside is price.
My benchmark testing calculates the fully equipped MetaStock configuration at around $265 per month, substantially above the median cost of the trading platforms I test. However, MetaStock also scored exceptionally well for charting, backtesting, and real-time financial news.
For a casual trader, it is overkill. For someone actively trading international stocks, futures, forex, or news-driven events, the additional cost is easier to justify.
Optimal Plan for International Traders
This is where MetaStock becomes particularly interesting.
XENITH provides access to a very broad range of international markets, fundamental information, economic data, and professional financial news. MetaStock’s own documentation emphasizes coverage across North America, Europe, Asia, forex, futures, commodities, and other global markets.
In my testing, this global coverage is one of MetaStock’s biggest advantages over lower-cost retail charting platforms.
If you trade multiple international markets and require professional news and data, R/T + XENITH is the plan I would choose.
Which MetaStock Plan Should You Choose?
My recommendation is straightforward.
- Long-term investors: choose MetaStock Daily Charts.
- Swing and position traders: Daily Charts should also be sufficient unless you genuinely need intraday signals.
- Day traders: choose MetaStock R/T + the appropriate XENITH data package.
- International and professional traders: the full R/T + XENITH configuration offers MetaStock’s strongest combination of global data, Reuters/Refinitiv-powered news, fundamentals, charts, and scanning.
