eSignal is recommended for those who want charts, scanning, and chart trading integration wrapped in an easy-to-use yet powerful interface.

However, eSignal is quite expensive and lacks community and real-time news.  

While there are many stock trading platforms available, eSignal stands out for serious traders. It offers a comprehensive and unique suite of tools and features, such as market depth, volume delta, and market profile.

Trading

Sporting broker integration with TD Ameritrade, Interactive Brokers, and ten other brokers, eSignal has a built-in broker interface for one-click trading.

One of eSignal’s standout features is its advanced volume analysis tool, which allows traders to analyze buying and selling pressure in the market. This can be especially useful when trying to predict potential price movements.

For those interested in options trading, eSignal offers options data as part of their Elite package. This feature provides valuable information such as option chains, volatility charts, and probability calculators to assist traders with their options strategies.

You can place trades from charts; the live profit and loss analysis is well-developed.

Scanning & Screening

eSignal allows you to set up real-time scanning and screening of the markets with live updating watch lists. You can backtest screens using historical data. The advanced filtering allows you to scan for stocks, futures, and forex markets using more than 150 criteria—including volume, price, and fundamental analysis.

Forex trading is supported by eSignal’s Classic package, with real-time data available only through the Signature & Elite packages. All packages include delayed data but only

eSignal could offer more by scanning for fundamentals; however, you can list a huge array of fundamentals in your watch list columns.

News & Social

Newsfeeds and, more importantly, real-time news feeds are important to traders; eSignal offers a solid news stream that should not let you down. A real-time newsfeed is available from the Dow Jones network but is expensive at $120 per month. For that price, you can get our recommended Benzinga Pro real-time news.

A lack of trader and community chat or market commentary means eSignal does not score well for this section.

Technical Analysis

For the hardcore technical analyst, eSignal might not offer enough indicators to your liking, but how many are enough? eSignal has 25 indicators called “Studies,” which work quite effectively.

Full real-time alerting is integrated into the drawing tools and the indicators, meaning you do not need to miss the action even if you are not looking at the chart.

Compared to MetaStock, TradingView, and TrendSpider, eSignal’s technical analysis lacks choice. Twenty-five indicators are simply not enough, as its competitors have hundreds.

Stock Systems & Backtesting

eSignal has developed a good ecosystem of stock market system developers who can sell you their systems or develop yours for you. You must pay extra for the services because there is no point-and-click system development or backtesting.

Ease of Use

eSignal is easy to install and set up, and the interface is intuitive and very reactive to market conditions. It may not be suitable for beginners due to its complexity, but once you become familiar with the platform, it can greatly enhance your trading experience. Additionally, purchasing or developing custom stock systems adds an extra layer of flexibility to meet individual trading needs.

eSignal Elite offers a weekly 2-hour trading event led by a professional trader. These sessions start with a trading topic and progress into Q&A based on the material and input from attending members.

Is eSignal Worth the High Price?

No, after my testing, I think eSignal is not worth the high price point for the Elite service. While eSignal is a solid product offering, it is somewhat limited in scope, and one expects more for the premium price point.

eSignal Alternatives

If you want software that can scan the global stock markets in real-time, I strongly recommend TradingView. If you are looking for the best technical analysis software with backtesting, real-time news, and forecasting, I suggest MetaStock R/T. Alternatively, if you are looking for the best real-time news service, you should investigate Benzinga Pro.

If you want a great mix of screening, charting, and a strong social trading community, then TradingView is something you should check out.
